Getting Here

The Nosara area (Playa Guiones and Playa Pelada) is the ideal place to stay if you are coming to the area to see the arribada. Nosara offers a wide variety of hotels, restaurants, and activities fit for every budget.

Popular activities in the area include surfing, yoga, SUP and kayak tours, sportfishing, tennis, and mountain biking.

For more information visit:

The two international airports in Costa Rica are the Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO) in Alajuela, San Jose and Daniel Oduber Quiros International Airport (LIR) in Liberia, Guanacaste.

From within Costa Rica, there are different options to get to Nosara for every budget:

Please consult directly with transportation companies to confirm pricing and scheduling

  • Domestic flights

  • Shared Shuttles

  • Private Taxi or Shuttle

  • Public Bus

  • Rental Car

Domestic flights to Nosara must be booked directly through the domestic airline website (Sansa or Aerobell).

If you are adventurous, the scenic drive is well worth it! However the mostly unpaved, bumpy dirt road conditions in Guanacaste require a 4WD vehicle, especially in the rainy season (May - November) when you may have to cross a few rivers to get here.

Tip

Check the weather and road conditions just to make sure you have a safe road trip. We recommend you use the Waze App for directions because Google Maps may take you on unwanted detours down dangerous secondary roads.
